Iron in Well Water Can Cause Many Issues

Iron staining is one common problem from high amounts of iron in the water.  It usually looks like a brown or orange colored stain on plumbing fixtures.  Treatment with a carbon filter can dramatically reduce the level of iron in the water.  This can be done with a large carbon tank similar to a water softener.  A more common approach is to use a radial flow carbon filter that can easily be changed when depleted.  For a whole house solution this normally done with a 10" or 20" Big Blue filter housing like the one shown below.  The 20" version provides maximum flow and filter life.
